Filter Cleaning

Washing a furnace filter using a garden hoseCleaning your electrostatic filter is easy. It only takes a few minutes to clear off the dirt and grime.

Every month follow these easy steps:

  • Remove the air filter
  • Flush with water in the opposite direction of the air flow arrow (on the side of the filter)
  • Rinse the other side
  • Spray with Zap cleaner or Formula 409 degreaser to remove stubborn stains on both sides of the filter
  • Rinse thoroughly to remove remaining dirt and degreaser
  • Drain excess water.
  • Let air dry, and reinstall filter

To alleviate washing the air filter immediately, it is wise to buy two of them.

The filter can be cleaned in the kitchen sink using a vegetable sprayer by doing half at a time.

Water drains faster if the filter is tilted so it rests on one if its corners.
